I had the most pleasantly surreal experience at my son, ’s, parent teacher conference yesterday. For the first time since had been in school, the teachers had nothing but positive things to say about his performance in class. He has always been a pleasure to have in class, very well behaved and polite, but he drifts off and doesn’t do his work, or at least he used to. This year he is doing better than ever before and has the best grades he has ever gotten, my wife and I were very pleased.
Now for the surreal: My son’s English teacher is a zombie fan, and back when my daughter was his student, she had given him a copy of Zombology to read. He took it home, read it cover to cover in two days, and said my story was his favorite! Better yet, it inspired him to write his first ever zombie story! This guy is the head of the English department of the whole school, and he liked my story!
I encouraged him to look up the Library and submit something and I hope he does. He’s been writing for years and is as of yet unpublished.
So, yesterday was a good day.
