I leave for a while and the good Dr. gets his own fancy forum! Sorry I disappeared, but just like dead (or a zed-head junky), you can't keep me away for too long. Now I just have to catch up with all of those episodes..... I think I am on ep.22. I look forward to catching up with you (okay, I cheated and listened to the last two episodes first).

There are several things I would use:

1.) Machete (light and versatile)
2.) Baseball bat
3.) Heavy Gloves with brass knuckles on the outside!
4.) Some sort of face mask or visor (to keep the gore off my face)

As far as fire arms, I would use some sort of revolver (easier to maintain) or hunting rifle.

Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game

February 21, 2008 by dustin-of-the-dead

Someone gave me this really cool boardgame for Christmas called "Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game." It comes with an original B-movie soundtrack too. All of the artwork and production of the game pieces are so good! The art is a combination of real photos with a lot of photoshoping done to them.

I had been one of the few people who hated that boardgame "Zombies!!!"(sorry, that game sucks and it rules are generic), but this game seems to answer my complaints about it. All of the cards are useful and there is not only several different scenarios for this game, but the board is also interchangeable & random from game to game (the interchangeable board for the game "Zombies!!!" was the only thing I liked about that cheap ass game).

LNOE is almost like a roleplaying game because the town and the characters all have back stories and special abilities. In fact, because of the campy-ness of the game, I would prefer playing this over something more serious like the roleplaying game "All Flesh Must Be Eaten."

I think the best part of this game is that one or two of the players (depending on how many players there are) play zombies! And if one or more of your characters die, you come back as a zombie.

Even though my favorite zombie game is still "Mall of Horror," this LNOE fills the empty void that "ZOMBIES!!!" left when we figured out that it was not a good game. This game not only has a lot of re-playable value, but the company has put out three new (and free) scenarios and is coming out with an extension pack.

Check it out, it is at least worth looking at:

Re: Episode #43 of "Library of the Living Dead" - Good stuff for Good Librarians

February 18, 2008 by dustin-of-the-dead

I would support a re-enactment that has a bunch of us attacking the walking dead! You're right DancingFred! It would hone our zombie fighting skills and would be great education to the public.

So, I vote we through out the Zombie Walks and start up the Zombie Bash! ;-)

First Doc:
Thank you for putting out this show. I love listening to the stories the most!

Second I have to go on a rant here and it is not just with you, but with everyone who supports zombie walks. Even when I was doing ZomCast, I was a vocal opponent to zombie walks and for one simple reason: What happens when the dead start to finally rise? People will not suspect a thing because they will most likely confuse the real walking dead with a zombie walk event.

And now you want to dress up like zombies and hand out canned food? That is going to give the wrong impression to the public that zombies are good or something! The dead are not our friends! We are at war here (or will be soon!).

Anyway, great show!

Well Told Tales Podcast

February 7, 2008 by dustin-of-the-dead

Well Told Tales had a zombie story not too long ago:
http://welltoldtales.com/content/tales/deaths_a_bitch.php
I would recommend listening to the other stories too.

I originally read about this podcast from a forum from another podcast called "The Drabblecast," which I highly recommend too:
http://web.mac.com/normsherman/iWeb/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html
Not only did they have a "drabble" (a story of exactly 100 words) zombie story, but they have a high appreciation for zombies too (yes, I have pimped the Library of the Living Dead podcast on their forum).

Anyway, enjoy!

Thank you for the music complement. When I was younger, I wanted to write music for horror soundtracks. I have to say that GarageBand 2 has made making electronic music so much easier (and affordable).

Yeah, I was not that crazy about the last Resident Evil, but one thing I did like was that the ending was not the typical "escape from the monsters before a certain time" that the first two had (I call it the "Alien plot archetype"). But, all in all, it was not as good as the first two. I saw that the third will be all animated:

Games? I got the boardgame "Last Night on Earth" for Christmas and I have yet to play it, but I am dying to! What I like the most about it is that one to two players play the zombies (and there is the whole various scenarios too).

Cheers

Please keep in mind I am no Dr. Pus! This was also my first podcast, so I had no clue what I was doing. I need to find the promos also, they were better than the show ;-)

I had no clue someone did a review of ZomCast! Thank you! I am very sorry we ended the podcast like that. We ended the podcast for various reasons, but it mostly came down to that we could not find the time to do the show we wanted to put out (Emily and Patrick also moved back down to New Orleans for a short time). Now that the old gang is back, we always joke about starting it up, but Dr Pus does a really good job (and the Dead Report too, when they have the time to do a show), so I am not sure we are needed anymore.

Anyway, we were not your average zombie fans, so I am sure we were going to piss off someone eventually after trashing a bunch of movies (we had 3 more Zombie-Piece Theater reviews queued up. But, it was a lot of fun and I am glad some people enjoyed it.

I am also glad it lead you to this podcast. I tried to contribute a new section to this show, but that lasted a whole one episode before things got very interesting in my life (hence why I disappeared). Sorry about that Dr Pus.

Thanks for your kind words!
