Anthologies will be put on hold/cancelled
I'm posting this to keep you in the loop dear Librarians.
It is with a very heavy heart that I must announce that all anthologies will be put on hold for at least 6 months. This is due to the poor economy. Anthologies cost me over $1,500 to put out and I just don't have the extra money to afford them.
The poor ecomony has even affected my Dental Practice. That's where I used money to pay for the anthologies but cannot do this anymore. As blunt as I can be .... I'm going broke on the anthologies.
There just isn't any extra to use.
I'm also afraid that many of the anthologies will be cancelled. This really breaks my heart, but the bottom line is that there is no money for the anthologies. At this time I'm not sure which one's will be cancelled, so please don't ask yet.
I'm so very sorry to have to post this thread, but I'm being bled out here. I've got to stop the bleeding somehow.
Again, I'm very sorry,
Doc
You gotta do what you gotta do. Let us know what will pass and what will play.
That's very sad news Doc but not surprising giving the state of the world economy. I'm sure everyone on the site will fully understand this and support you.
You are and always will be one of my heroes.
John
Bless you :( Sorry to hear it, though.
Thanks for the update, Doc.
No hard feelings here. You've done a great job of getting us horror writers to up our game.

Hello Dr. Pus:
I'm sorry to hear about your problems, and I hope that you will get back into the business of producing them somehow in the future.
David Perlmutter
Hi Dr. Pus:
Just to be sure: Are the stories that were accepted for the as-yet unpublished anthologies to be released back into their authors' custody? And will this financial situation be affecting any other aspects of the Twisted Library?
David Perlmutter
The stories will be relased back to the authors.
I don't see any other cuts (ie: Novels) happening.
Awful news, Doc, but the fact you've been going this long in the current economic climate tells us all just how much it means to you
I hope you'll be able to get everything back on track sooner rather than later, but I guess only time will tell. Does this mean you're only putting out novels for the foreseeable future?
edit: ah, answered my question :)
I suspect we will get a notice from all anthologies as we go. It might take a week or two for the editors and the Doc to decide what stays and what goes.
Sad news, Doc, but you have to do what you have to do. I hope the one's you manage to put out do well. Thanks for the update, and I am sure you know we all stand behind your choices.
I understand the need to do this so no worries on that end. However, I would really appreciate to know what is staying and what is going or if all are going. Not only do I have stories tied up, but also The Snuff Syndicate anthology edited by me. I have a responsibility to the authors involved so the sooner I know, the sooner I can inform them.
Thank you.
Keith
Hey Doc,
You have to do what you have to do. Economy is trashing everyone!
One day it will get better, just focus on the now.
Not good news but totally understandable.
I hate it when reality interferes!
My brother-in-law is a dentist as well and suffering equally. He even had to hire my sister, his wife, as his receptionist to save a few dollars.
Doc has run the Library like everyone is family, and I know he hates the fact that he is being forced to run it like a business, but that is the bottom line. The costs involved are insane, and if this is the best way to keep the Library afloat, then it has to be done.
I'm here for you, Doc, just like a lot of the other folks who have been involved with the Library and know it means a lot more than just what gets published.
You've dedicated yourself to putting out beautiful books and compensating everyone involved. If it's between some anthologies later or no anthologies ever, the choice is clear and we respect that. I hope things turn around soon for you on the dentistry side.
I'm here.
I am here too..I can do bookmarks, promo..whatever you need..
Thanks for all you've done, Doc. I totally understand the situation. You are one of the most gracious, big-hearted people I've ever encountered and I wish you well. I'm still all in, through thick and thin.
*bigggggggggggg huggggggggggs from me to you*
I understand and support your decision, Doc. I'm here for you too. I'm so proud of the Librarians for how they are taking this. Very happy to be part of this family. The Library will survive and thrive!
