Rapid Decomposition - Living Dead Flash Stories - Now CLOSED!
Please submit your zombie flash stories for inclusion in a PDF book.
The Zombie Apocalypse happens; it starts small and grows to cover the entire planet.
The recently dead come back to life bringing a deadly, infectious and reanimating virus with them.
Newly infected people sometimes run amok, filled with anger and rage, attacking others, transmitting the disease. The freshly risen dead, in some cases, can move and run as fast as a living human but some merely shamble!
(I think that about takes care of most types of zombie)
The book will be divided into three sections...The Beginning, The Middle and The End, with submissions falling into one of the categories (please specify which on your covering letter.)
The Beginning: This would be the first few days of the dead rising....(IE Night of the Living Dead, the start of 28 Days Later.)
The Middle: This would cover up to a month after the Beginning when humans are still on the run and merely trying to survive....(IE first half of Dawn of the Dead '78.)
The End: Humans have found ways of escaping or hiding from the undead. Rules and new societies are being established.....(IE second half of 28 Days Later and Dawn '78, Zombieland, 28 Weeks Later, Day of the Dead.)
Stories with a twist ending or a feeling that the flash is part of a greater story arc are especially encouraged. Kudos will also be awarded for restraint in harsh language; use the f-bomb space for story telling!!! LOL.

Excellent! I was just planning out a short-short zombie story, and it should fit the criteria here nicely.
No Pru. Those who are accepted will receive a PDF of the collection. This is Fred's way of trying to keep Zombology IV alive.
Ah, I figured that was likely the case given the e-format. Also, given the comment you left me last time, this is probably obvious, but I need to ask to make sure so's I can start blabbing about it: is my collection officially go?
Your collection is definately a go. Didn't you get the e-mail?
Agh! Nope! And I check that thing about a dozen times a day! If you want, copy/past it into a PM for me or re-send it. I think I'm going to go get me a new e-mail account in the next day or so anyway as this isn't the first time something like this has happened. I'll PM you with the address once it's set up.
so, do you have to have a print book to have a kindle version?
and fred, my piece o crap story has been sent your way.
hope you have some crystal meth, because mine will put you to sleep.
Well, I've written a couple of flash pieces thus far, and I think I could manage to swing for the fences in 500 words or less another time.
Fred, I'll have to dig my Flash piece out of the sunken earthen cavern that it was left in and send it your way!

Not at all. If you go to Smashwords with a properly formatted (meaning "to their specifications") Word doc, they can turn it into all the different formats at no cost. Alternatively, you can use software like Calibre to create a kindle version, but don't start with a PDF, as it will add the page numbers and titles into the text in horrible ways.
Rock on! Question: Doc accepted 2 of mine for the flash volume, do you want me to send you both or the "best" one?
Is there any pay for this sucker?
-prutig
The pay is getting to read loads of other people's flash stories!

Not crap at all. Took me by surprise at the turn it took. That's what I'm after.
Then I'll send both tonight? And if they both aren't your cuppa, no worries!
The more the merrier.
