Library of Horror Press is pleased to announce the following Green Lighted Project:

Birth of an Idea

Peter sat at his kitchen table delicately scraping the tarter and calcium buildup around his newest trophy when his roommate, Paul, entered with the morning newspaper unfolded in his hands.

“Another killer was caught last night,” he said, laying the paper out across the circular table.

With a sigh, Peter placed his tools down. “You know how I feel about interruptions when I’m working. This isn’t a finger I just toss into a zip-lock bag, you know. This is art!”

“I’m sorry, but, this news is disheartening and it’s got me thinking. He was alone—”

“I’m beginning to think that’s the way to go,” said Peter with a half-smile.

“Be serious. You and I have each other to watch our backs. How many men and women are out there right now, desperate and alone?”

“If they’re desperate, than that means they fucked up.”

“Exactly. How do we know we’re not making the same mistakes?”

“Experience,” he answered matter factly.

“And maybe that’s all our brethren need…experience.”

Peter leaned forward in his chair. “What are you saying?”

“I’m saying that in all walks of life there’s a community. A place to hang your head with likeminded people.  We need a place like that for us.”

“And how do you purpose we do that? The feds would just love for us to gather together in one convenient place. This isn’t alcoholics anonymous, this is murder!”

“I know, but it can be done. We can make a website, a forum where killers from all around the world can come together for moral support, share tips and tricks of the trade, and just provide an overall sense of camaraderie. Killing doesn’t have to be a solitary sport. You and I are proof of that.”

“You know how much work it’ll be to keep such a thing a secret?”

Paul crossed his arms, a sign he was getting frustrated. “We don’t want to keep it a secret, we just want to keep it untraceable.”

“And what do you call such a thing?”

“I don’t know,” Paul said as his arms drop to his sides, “Murder club?”

“No, man, that’s so…generic.”

“Lynch Mob? The Killer Society?”

“How about,” Peter paused, contemplating the idea, “The Snuff Syndicate?”

Library of Horror Press is looking for Serial Killer themed stories. Simple revenge and murder tales need not apply. We are looking for the inner workings of a killer’s mind. The motive that drives them, the need they feed, the hunt and capture of their prey, and the mementos they take from their victims. Stories do not have to mention the Snuff Syndicate website (though it is a nice plus) or founding members. A narrative of Peter and Paul will be written by Keith Gouveia to link the selected stories together to give the book a more novel-like feel rather than a collection of shorts.

Authors selected will receive payment of 1 cent per word and a Copy of the Book after publication.

Send stories to keithdbz at yahoo.com (This is my daily email, you know what to do with it) All stories received will be notified of their receipt. Deadline for submissions is June 30th. No stories will be accepted until deadline has past, though rejections will be sent prior.

Feel free to ask any questions.

General submission guidelines:

1.      RTF format (no other formats accepted) Courier 12pt Double spaced

2.      Place name of anthology you are submitting to in the subject line of your email

3.      Include contact information, your real name, and pen name (if applicable) in your cover letter and first page of story.

4.      Your cover letter should include any recent writing credits, (I’m buying stories, not bios) a brief explanation of who you are, and a very brief synopsis of your story including the title.

5.      Italics and Bold should be as such rather than underlined, I want to read your story as you intend it.

For a clear guideline on how your story should be formatted for submission, please check out this link:

Word count range ideally to be 4-10k words. But I am not firm on this as long as it is a good yarn.

Spiffy!  I'll have LeBeau star warming up the stew pot ....

(PS: for you young whippersnippers, that's a Hogan's Heroes reference, kind, sorta ...)

And there I was last night going through some unfinished stories, and what did I find but a serial killer story.  It's serendipity I tells ya!  Now if I can only make it worthwhile...

Good for you!  I have a few that would fit the bill and shall be weeding through them for a gem.  I told a friend about the anthology and he's pretty excited!

Idea: Could the story be a posting on the Snuff Syndicate website.

Like: Hi. My names The Black Empty and I kill people, or something along those lines?

Hello Zepp...

I have a horribly twisted idea for this that crosses one of those lines people just do not cross.  Perhaps the fear of my own impending mortality has made me brave (or foolish).  I can not wait for you to read it.

TBE, whatever you want to try go for it. Your idea sounds no different than a first person narrative. I'll let you know if it works or not, and or what you can do to make it work. I am open to experimentation.

I'm working on something that takes the form of dialogue between a serial killing cannibal and a zombie, is this too odd for this? (the zombie might not be a real zombie ;) )

Rev, just write it and send it. If it's not right for me, you'll know and have ample time to write something else. But keep in mind, this is Serial Killers. Not looking for any other tropes unless they are a biproduct of the killer's irrational mind and you best do a fine job displaying it.
