Breakdown of stories in UNBOUND & OTHER TALES
UNBOUND (novel) - A missing writer, an unfinished novel and a supernatural stalker are just a few of the ingredients in this stew of madness. The search for a killer's true identity pierces reality's veil and reveals a world where tall tales and fictional horrors live and breathe.
Voice – Have you ever been awakened in the dead of night by what you thought was a voice?
Saligia - The end of the world disrupts a serial killer's day.
Ministry – You can preview this one at Bewildering Stories, where it was selected for their Quarterly Review. It's the story of two girls, two ghosts and dozens of homicidal tomcats.
Clowns – "A clown may be amusing in a circus ring, but what would be your reaction to opening you door and finding that same clown on your front step at midnight?" (Lon Chaney, Sr.)
Peelin’ Ernie – A fable about why never to pick up hitchhikers. Or hitchhike.
Exhibit – Old friends are reunited, romance rekindled and, just maybe, a demon resurrected.
Mother Tree – A different kind of Hell awaits those who die in the shadow of the cursed old tree.
The Devil’s Due - A dead PI walking the streets of Purgatory takes on an unusual new client.
Voice – Have you ever been awakened in the dead of night by what you thought was a voice?
Exploding Head Syndrome again!
I read about your house, stories like that always creep me out. But this might not be what you think!
Nice breakdown of the stories, by the way. There's nothing like breaking a tale down to a one-sentance teaser.
You're a writing machine.
These stories are just incredible!!
This is the big time for me to be able to publish a book by THE Dunwoody. I'm all smiles & shit!![]()
As we near publication, I should mention that I was recently voted Choate Road's 2009 Spotlight Scribe for the story "Mother Tree," which appeared on Choate Road last August and is now in UNBOUND!
Even more reasons to buy the book!!!
gttagettit...ooh..there was a tit in there hehehe
damn that lon chaney sr quote just about sums it up, eh?!
I ought to mention that the story which eventually grew into UNBOUND started as a writing assignment some ten or eleven years ago. It was a 1200-word tale about a miserable writer who receives an unexpected visitor. It was a bit like the myth of Pygmalion, only in this version Pygmalion throws his work into the trash. And rejection is a bitch, as we all know – even more so, it turns out, when the story itself takes offense.
With some tweaks, the finished novel picks up where that story ends. I still have the story, too - someday I'll get up the nerve to post it. ;)
Seeing these characters in print today and recalling their origins is a strange and wonderful feeling. Thanks to Doc for making it happen.
I'm the one who's honored to finally have a book by The Dunwoody!
Now, y'all go buy this book!
