Will it be awesome or suck totally?  It's weird to see the woman from Firefly as a visitor.

The first time I have ever heard of this was last nite!  How late am I?!  A few friends showed me one of the "Final Battles" and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  When does this premier?

I'm mildly intrigued but I know it won't freak me out as much as the original V did.

November 3rd.

I'll watch it, but I do not have my hopes up.

I have been looking forward to this. I have a feeling it will suck but hey, not every 80's show can come back in style like BSG did (one of the few TV shows that depressed me for a week when it ended). I like that the blond, Juliette from Lost is in it.

I was fairly young when I watched the original on TV, and so I was truly surprised when I found out the truth about the visitors (I don't know if everyone else knew that was coming or not).  That won't happen again, obviously, but I hope they find some way to keep things fresh.  I'll give it a chance unless/until it starts to suck.

I have to watch this despite fearing the worst

I remember as a kid back in England I had to get special permission from my dad to stay up late and watch the original. Scared the crap out of me! I remember the scene where a human first saw the visitors eating rodents, and of course the birth scene!

What was the original guys name, Marc Singer?

I was about five or six when I saw the original for the first time, so it truly freaked me out.  For some reason the true identity of the Visitors didn't frighten me, but what really gave me nightmares for the rest of my childhood was the scene where Robin has her babies.  The first one looks normal... at first.  Then we see the second one.

I will certainly watching this, even if it's just for nostalgia's sake.

Yep, Marc Singer aka The Beast Master.  I must confessed I am hooked on rewatching all the old episodes now.  :  )
DV-Ring it tonight and plan on watching the reboot's first episode tomorrow!

I was in hospital with a broken leg when it came out and it kept me going thru those dark, boring days.

I hated Robert Englund in it though, as the spazzy Willie but facied the pants off of Dianne ;)

Opinions?

Didn't like it much. Moved WAY too fast and the characters are generally awful so far.

I can understand them wanting to rush through the Vs making contact and assuming that a good portion of their viewers know the overall storyline but that was insane.  The pace was WAY, WAY too fast.  I enjoyed seeing two Firefly actors in the episode but felt the whole thing was lacking.
At the moment, I would even go so far as to say Stargate Universe is a better show and that's just sad.  Universe has been very cliche' and predictable as if it was dumbed down or something.  Lord willing, both shows will get better as they go along.  I love the V mythos and enjoy the Dr. Rush character on Universe.  I would hate to think both of them will end up totally sucking.  SF is already such a struggling genre on TV now anyways.  Even Fringe's rating are way down this year.
That's my two cents.

OK, so it wasn't just me. Who the hell set the pace for that show? Why did they call themselves the Visitors? I haven't seen the original in quite some time but I thought that was like a nick name they were given?

Too much cool story line, way too fast. That show should have been drawn out slowly and with lots of creepy mood. Total FAIL.

They were always the Visitors and the V was used for awhile on both sides, but it always stood for Victory. I disagree about the pace. From the moment it aired I was chanting a "show me their face" mantra and I was happy they did in the pilot. I wanted a glimpse of how they'd look with modern technology. I also like the mixture of alien weaponry (the spike bomb) and the close range blades.

Though I love the original, it was long and drawn out. Breaking in to this, saving so and so 'cause they got captured, okay they're safe now let's break in here and sabotage. I want a war, and I think this set-up and pace will deliver that.

You can watch it online.

I wouldn't recommend it though, it really is quite bad.

It was to fast, like a selfish lover, but it's better than no sex at all.
