Hurm.  Color me confused.  Are you saying you would consider a novella + stories in a collection that topped out at 30k?
Please clarify for those of us with meager math skills. [image]

Novellas at 30k I believe
2 novellas leaves 40k words for shorts
Total 100k
Thats what I am seeing...smile

Hmm. I'd interpreted that as a collection of novellas with a maximum length of 30k each.  Probably squeeze 4-5 into a book with the usual 100k length target.

Sci-fi isn't really my thing, but I can't wait to see where this goes!

Don't be confused Nickie.

What I was saying is that if we do a novella I want the stories in it to be 30K. It would contain 4 stories for a total of 120K.

And writingdad, if you'd like to collect up the novellas, the job's yours. Contact me via PM or e-mail.

Doc, you just gave me a bigger shiver than selling my first story.  I'm going to make some notes and questions and you'll hear from me by morning if that's okay.  (Working nights right now, so even on my days off I'm up past dawn.)

That may depend on how serious you are and what kind of length range we wind up with.  Would you call it SF or Fantasy?

-writingdad

Not joking.  Gaiman-esque modern fantasy.  I love the damned thing, but it's length is right at the no-man's range where no one wants to touch it.
The fact that you had to ask me if I was serious must mean you not have read any of my other stuff yet grin

Kody Boye is writing a fantasy novel.

-rhiannonfrater

I must mention my dark fantasy novel is at 148-something-something-something words (meaning it's at 148K.) There's no way I could split it. I've already had to split the originally storyline apart, which is why after this book, I'll be working on its sequel, LOL!

148K!

Holy shit!  You're a writing machine, Kody.

I like the idea of a novella collection.
