I've been messing around with a very bizarre story for quite some time now, over a year off an on, and recently I started putting the chapters out on Facebook and Textnovel.
It started out as something I wanted to do to see if I could branch out into less structured, more postmodernist fiction (I can't) and to stave off the boredom while working nights at the most godawful place I have ever had the misfortune to be employed at. After a while the story began to take concrete form and took off from there.
Condensed into something very brief, the story's about a young woman with a severe rain phobia and the ghost of her apartment's former tenant taking off to explore the city around them, only managing to attract a lot of negative in the process. I'm writing it as a horror story with some humor elements thrown in as well, and I'm enjoying the result so far.
There are thirteen chapters up so far, with updates on Mondays and Fridays. I have twenty three drafted, though recently I've been thinking about taking the story in a much more exciting direction.
If interested, feel free to join the group or friend me on Facebook. Feedback is always appreciated.
Hey, I got an Editor's Choice ribbon over on Textnovel! Sweet.
Congrats! And your idea sounds really cool. If I get the time, I'll defintely check it out. In the meantime, I'll join your facebook group
That's awesome Jessica. COGRATS!
Apparently I'm in the running for something over on Textnovel, though the current contest (with $1,000 and possibly representation at stake) had a deadline of August, back when the project was just getting off the ground. I'm not sure if this is for next year's contest, but I need votes to keep in the running.
If anyone's got time to head over to Textnovel and vote, please do so. It would mean a lot and I'd forever be in your debt! :)
Also, I'm about five chapters away from where my progress left off. I've been revising and posting chapters I wrote while working nights at my old job, and now I'll be adding all new material to keep the story going. Comments, suggestions and criticisms are always welcome.
It sounds great Jessica! And I can say, she's one helluva writer.
Aw, shucks. Thanks!
