The stories do not have to include gore. But they must be in the horror genre. I've read tons of stories/novels that are horror and yet contain no gore.

I've never been big on gore for the sake of gore. I'd rather it's relevant or adds to the story in some way. The story is more important than the splatter.
Zombies do tend to be naturally gory, though. Bacon? Not so much, but things could happen.

You must be eating the wrong bacon. It's meat, so you could say by definition that it's gore.

I've just been waiting to get a sub from the dunwoody to delve back in :)
I'm around a bit more, got the main papers in, STILL WANT MOAR! so no fret my pet, kind of reading through them all a few times, putting some in one pile, some in another, tasting each one for meatiness, smoky flavour, what wine complements them the best. . .
OMG, it feels good to be able to breath again, and with only a few new bug bites :) I'm tasty to everything out here.
Oh yeah, and I've been getting a LOT of stories closer to teh 1K mark, so if you have a longer tale, just saying. . .
I just sent mine in this morning. Doc informed me that I'd sent it to him (he doesn't have enough to do... so embarrassed), but in my defense, I sent that in August and wasn't doing very well in finding my way around here. lol... so nice of him to even write to me about it and direct me to the right address, anyway, so sorry! ouch. chris
