Louise, I hope your not finding The Church too much of a struggle, apologies for the poor grammar and dodgy spelling that your no doubt finding. I'm sooooooooo looking forward to see what you have done with it.

Many, many thanks

I listened to Coldheart Canyon while on a trip.  I enjoyed it immensely. But I would NOT have wanted to read it.

Does that make sense?

It makes sense, the book was about 200 pages too long. Story was good but I remember being really let down when I finished it. I miss the old stuff like Great and Secret Show and Weaveworld. I have heard his new novel will be a return to form. He is telling the story of the creepy dudes in Hellraiser or some such.

The Scarlet Gospels.  It's a confrontation between Harry D'Amour and the Hierophant (aka: Pinhead) from the Hellbound Heart.

I have to quit coming here. You people are too entertaining, and poor John's novel will never get done at this rate! hehehehee ;-)

Not at all, John! :-) I do very intensive edits, but that's because I'll try to explain every edit applied to you. That's just the way I am. I refuse to simply throw a book at an author and say: "Do these edits now!" That's just rude. I like to tell the author why I suggest everything.

If you and Dr. Pus like, we can even work through the book in sections. :-) I did this with Joel on Frozen Blood, and I found it worked well for us. I'm finding The Church, in terms of editing, very similar to Frozen Blood. Basically, what I'm doing is marking sections where you can plump up the active voice. Showing versus telling. The story and your voice are great. Your concept is great! I like the plague idea with zombies. I really enjoyed 28 Days Later. (Or was it just 28 Days?)

It does. Especially if you were listening to Clive read it. ;-) (I was so sad when I found out he was gay, as I had planned to marry him, you see. Then I wished terribly that I was a man. hehehehehe)

Yeah, I can see that. Gallilee, while I adore that book, tends to go off on tangents too. I think I'm one of those goofy readers that likes overdescription sometimes. lol :-)

I remember hearing about that! Thanks, bl! Yes, can't wait for that. Just watched Lord of Illusions recently. Harry is one of my fav Barker characters.

Okay, back to work for me!

Take care,

Louise
