Well, the subject really says it all.

But yes, my horror/slipstream collection has just been accepted by the good Dr!  If I could dance, I'd be doing a very happy dance right now!

Barry got some really strange and wonderful stories in "Debris" and it a privilage to be able to bring it to dead tree format!

Barry rocks hard!

Congrats! Looking forward to the book! BTW - Can you explain slipstream to me like I'm a 12 year old? Feel free to use crayon diagrams. grin

Slipstream, as I understand it, is just a technical way to say "this is REALLY horror, but there are elements of sci-fi and fantasy in it."  Sorta like a mixed-genre kinda thing.

The thing is, I HATE writing and reading hardcore sci-fi, but I find it popping up in my writing from time to time.

I blame Lost.

Barry's story cover the whole gambit of horror. There are elements of sci-fi, fantasy, noir, suspense ... well, just about everything.

It's a helluva book and "Library of Horror" is extremely proud to be able to make this one available to y'all.

The way I've always understood slipstream is as something that looks mainstream at first, but has elements of sci-fi, horror, or fantasy that kind of leak into it.

Of course that could be wrong.  I've heard so many people try to nail down a definition for slipstream and not quite succeed.  I guess its just something you know when you see it.

In West Virginia a slipstream is a crick where the bed is covered in moss. We gots us one of those on Pus Mountain.

And for those not in the mountain state, or any of the surrounding Appalachian region, who might wonder whata crick is . . . well, it's the same thing as a creek.
