We all know that constantly on the backburner of our minds, we are constantly preparing for the zombieocalypse. In almost everything we do, it can serve a purpose in our plans.

But I wonder, what skills do you, nameless and faceless people on the forum do you have? What occupations do you hold or talents that you believe will give you the edge when you need to survive? Not just fighting and running.

Me? I'm a diver. So there's not too much need for me in a rebuilt society in the overtaken world. But I believe that my mechanic skills will serve me well on my way to either a desolate expanse in the north or an offshore oil rig. I've had lots of emergency medical training, that'll help me out I'm sure. Unless I need an appendix removed or something.

Well, even tho I have NO training in martial arts, but LOTS pof training in flag corp, I can spin a bo or any kind of blunt weapon with a creepy deadly accuracy, so if I were to ever find myself with no gun, I can still take care of myself if I have a shovel or something fo the like

I have no actual practical skills that would help me survive. I'd have to learn as needed. My biggest contribution would be in the reformation of society as I have a BA in History and am working on my MA.

Hey, books are seriously bad-ass blunt weapons. And if society does reform, we need information. The libraries, the schools and universities...all of the history of man...couldn't possibly all be lost. But those who don't learn from it are doomed to what?

Well, I'm an ER nurse with thirty years of experience. I'm a pretty good marksman, took seven years of Tae Kwon Do, and am familiar with many of the edible plants and mushrooms in the areas in which I've lived. I might come in handy. And I do a lot of camping and can ride a horse.

Yeah, but your also Canadian. Jk.

Equestrian skills would be useful. I've rode on and off for years. I know my way around a horse pretty well. An ER nurse? Wouldn't you be nervous about being one of the first to come in contact with the reanimated?

Whatever. Just apolegize for your country's pacifism and curling! Seriously. It's not a city hospital is it? Like a big city? Living in New Orleans kinda freaks me out because there's only so many ways out of the city, if Katrina was any indication.

Yes there are a strange percentage of Floridians that take off into the north, myself included. Of course Illinois isn't as far away as Canada but I grew up farther south then her so didn't need to go up north as far lol.

Well lets see, I work in retirement funds...not much help there. Oh yeah, I'm a great shot and have done a ton of different jobs in the past, manual labor and on up. I did some major restoration of a 1901 home so I have the skills for fabricating things in wood and metal, plus I can cook as well.

I have a bit of psychology background so would hopefully help out keeping people sane.

Oh and I am a bit of a prat and don't mind people laughing and taking the mickey out of me so that would be entertaining and relieve stress!!

I'm from KS and moved to ND. It may be a trend for zombie lovers. Doc could end up at the north pole!

Man, I want to go stay with Floridapossum when the apocalypse comes! Seriously, though, I've been a social services government worker for 12 years, so I'm pretty much getting thrown to the zombies as bait, I would imagine, in one of those mid-third-act-suit-got-what's-coming-to-him kind of things.

Thanks for the vote of encouragement 10000nails. I guess I should also mention that I'm willing to learn. I, also, have some background in the medical field (in high school I trained to be a medical assistant and I have a crtificate in Medical Transcription). And I'm very calm in an emergency, usually; with dead people walking around that could change.

My biggest lack of skill comes in the defense catagory. I won't allow guns in my house (two young boys), so I have no practical experience with them, unless you count video games. In theory I know how to use one, I've just never done so in practice. I have used a bow and arrow before though (Archery in Gym class), but I don't think that would be very useful against zombies.

I have lived in the same general area of Ohio my whole life, except when my parents wanted to move to Florida when I was in grade school. That lasted about 2 weeks. And the last place I am moving is futher north, if I can avoid it. I hate the cold.

HMM Well, I'm a distance runner. Working towards a marathon this year. That should be good for recon and looking for supplies. oh, and becouse they are notoriously cheep at my job I'm forced to "fix" most of the equipment. A lot of times I have to make tools.

Thanks for the invite Dr. Pus. If I ever find myself in the midst of chaos and the great panic, and I happen to be passing through WV. I'll look you up.

But for me, when i read the zombie survival guide. He said one of the most viable locations is an offshore oil rig. I was like, "SCORE!!" I live and work on the boats and rigs. So I guess if I could get used to constant fishing...i'd be alright.

I do like this thread. It's interesting to see the differing backgrounds we come from.
