Which would be your rifle of choice for the zompocalypse? Mine is the same exact gun I described in "Beginning of the Dead". An ancient Mossberg 22 long rifle. It has a seven shot clip, bold action, peep sites, a break down front stock and a cool Army strap. This think has never given me a problem. I'm thinking that for killin' zombies I need a gun that is simple, deadly to shoot, light to carry and easy to find ammo for. This booger does the trick!!
Well,
Need I point out again. ANY gun is better than none when the initial wave of infection comes through your neighborhood.
The LR round is a good choice. The rifle's are usually simple and easily maintained or repaired, even in the absence of the simple gunsmithing tools. I have a semi-automatic Marlin w/4x scope. Plus, the rounds themselves are so small you can carry literally THOUSANDS of them in the bottom of a back-pack.
But, as far as my choice. It'd be Ruger M-14 carbine. A brush rifle. Large scope and durable. The ammunition is just about as common as the Long Rifle. It's just louder, which is a disadvantage.
In an ideal world, it'd be a that bullpup the British developed. I can't remember what it's called. But it uses NATO rounds...It's lightweight. Easy to handle and lighter on recoil than traditional rifles.
I'd have to agree that a .22 is the way to go. Like Nails said you can pack a ton of ammo in a bag without a issue. Not only that but they are relatively quite. If you fire off a round you going to attract a bit less attention then the M-14...however I would have that with me as well for those reach out and touch shots. The 22 and 14 are the two rifles that I won't get ride of.
Another item would be the Thompson Contender. This is a great little rifle/pistol. With interchangeable barrels you could pretty much set yourself up for any ammo type you might need. Downfall is that it is a single shot. However, taking it to the range and poping on the 15 inch .223 barrel makes one hellava bang that makes everyone look our way. Not the type of thing you want to advertise with the local undead
I'm going with a Winchester Defender with a folding stock, extended mag with 3 types of rounds. 3" magnum slugs, 3" magnum shot, and incendiary rounds, for roasting marshmellows. The shot and the slugs will be alternately loaded, with the incendiary rounds for special occasions. Oh yea, and my laser site. See we have guns in Canada too! I want a pink sling, but I'll leave the Hello Kitty on for zombiefarmer.
I had a friend that owns a bolt-action mossberg shotgun. It was a peculiar gun to me when I first had it in my hands. What with it being a shotgun with a rifled barrel...it's effectiveness amazed me though. From about 50-75 yards away. The 12 gauge sabot-slug went through the back door, the shelving units, and the drivers seat and buried itself in the dashboard of an abandoned milk-truck in a field.
I also discovered that bald faced hornets (Dolichovespula maculata) seek out hot and enclosed environments for nests, which the slug also penetrated through. They were very upset when I opened up the door to follow the round! I dropped the gun and ran like hell back to the house...
Well, I've already got a Mosin-Nagant for long range. My ideal gun would be a .45 cal Tommy gun with a drum feed. Barring that, either an MP5 or SKS.
i have a total hardon for the calico 9mm rifle. omg 100 round mag. love it. user-friendly, easy to handle, though it's kind of heavy. me and shotguns are still getting to know each other. i still kind of shit myself every time i shoot one.
oh, though i'm also totally hot for the mossberg rolling thunder 12 ga. it's gorgeous and, well, i'm shallow like that. who knows how long i'd really last in the apocalypse...
perhaps i should stop eroticizing the firearms...
They'll have to pry your gun--or something--from your cold, dead hands.

Stop eroticizing guns? Please, that's the staple of american cinema. Staple, no no no....cornerstone.
I'd go with the Ruger 10/22 all the way. So it won't blow a zombies head off, one shot to the head with a 22 would still do the trick. A 22 is rather quiet as opposed to other calibers, the cost of the ammo is ridiculously cheap in comparison, and you can carry a massive amount of ammo for it rather easily.
I can pick up 1000 rounds or so for around $20.00 Ya gotta love it!

M1100 shotgun .12ga
KAC SR-16 Carbine, Suppressed 5.56
Ruger SuperRedhawk .44
SVI Infinity .45
H&K MP5RAS 9mm

AICS M700 7.62
Vest & Gears
good to have different options for different missions.
Please forgive my phrasing brother, but you are 'well-equipped!' ![]()
Not much on guns but I would use a Bow& Arrow for long distance and a sword for one on one combat. I would also try to find a tank to run them over and smash as many zombies as I could.
I love America. You are all bonkers.

says the man that can't legally carry a kitchen knife from one home to another on the street.
The M249 SAW. This is what I carried in the Military before I got out. I used to be a 60 gunner, but I got switched to the SAW and never looked back
Stupid knife laws. An Englishman's kitchen knife is his sword
