Ash's hand beating the crap out of him is still in the top three greatest scenes in a movie.

I just picked up Evil Dead on dvd at Wal-mart for $7.50. woohoo.
And something called BUG also for $7.50. Looked good so what the hey.

If I could only watch one set of movies for the rest of my life, these would be them. I grew up on these movies and they have a special place in my heart because they started my love of horror.
The combination of comedy and gore made this fantastic.

I admit I love the first one...but I don't remember being as jazzed about the other two. I should revisit. My love for horror came from the Universal Classics and the Hammer films...ahh, saturday afternoon inside glued to the TV, then outside to re-enact what I had just watched. I WAS the wolfman, dammit.

The first one gave me some genuine chills. I love those middle-of-nowhere type of movies and the microbudget values made it more real. Not so crazy about the silliness in Evil Dead 2 but Army of Darkness found a nice balance between horror and laughs.

If I had to pick which was my least favorite I would have to go for 2, but I find that I like even that one a lot. I enjoy them all for very different reasons.
There used to be a drive in theater not to far from where I live and one summer they played Evil Dead & Evil Dead 2 as a double feature.
I'd say I was about 15 and a friend of mine had just gotten her 1st car, an older model Chrysler convertible. About 6 of us piled in that car and went to the drive in to see it, top down and totally loving every second of it.

The first scared the crap out of me, that bit where they are reading the cards and she levitates...argghhh, I think it's the voice shudder.
Second, I laughed like a drain thru it :)
And recently watched the third again and appreciated it a lot more than the first time I saw it.
Bruce is such an over the top actor, he's great.

I agree Fred. I really enjoy those movies, but I don't think they would have been near as good without Bruce Campbell. That guy cracks me up, and by the time we get to the third movie where he is fully embracing the role of super cheesey hero, the one liners are priceless. The whole goody-goody two shoes thing in is a laugh riot.

I think Bruce's career is a testiment to just how good of an actor he is. He's been in some really bad movies but somehow, he manages to make them work.
And his one liners are fantastic, all these years later my friends and I are still quoting him.

I hear they are remaking it, without him as Ash! How can it be?

If what I'm hearing it true, it's another one of those bullsh*t "re-imaginings" and that's how they're getting around Bruce.

It won't be Dancingfred! Here's another piece of our formative years being corrupted!

Yes, they are remaking. And Sam is NOT directing, only Producer in limited capacity.
Bruce, he's doing other stuff...

This has been in the works for years and I would frankly be surprised if It ever gets made

I just wish they would leave well enough alone. They only end up screwing up the original.
What happened to the era when people thought for themselves and an original idea was something to be commended for?!

I hope it never happens! Look what they did to the Wicker Man!

Oh geez, that was one steaming pile! Sorry, but the only good thing about that was Nic Cage (yes, I know he's widely hated, but he gives me the warm fuzzies)

Nic Cage is Okay when he is in the right roles. I had doubts about him in Ghost Rider but I thought he was Okay, tho the movie wasnt the best
